Komen for the Cure: “Just kidding, pro-lifers!”

It looks like we have to keep turning down those little pink ribbons after all. Why am I not surprised?

Komen’s funding of Planned Parenthood subsidizes abortion, not breast cancer research, and is completely hypocritical and contrary to the organization’s purpose. Planned Parenthood doesn’t provide mammograms. Some studies have even shown a link between abortion and risk for breast cancer. Regardless of its good intentions, no pro-life person should feel comfortable giving Komen his or her money.

What I don’t understand is why Komen would let something like a supposed decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood get leaked to the media. This is going to make the pro-life community even more angry, especially after the initial outpouring of praise.

Talk about a PR disaster.
