The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, unite all Americans. As Governor Perry said in a statement earlier today, “Those behind the attacks hoped to crush the American spirit, but that spirit remains alive and well.” The enemies of liberty sought to harm this great nation – and while they caused 3,000 deaths and struck fear in our hearts, they failed at their ultimate goal. The attacks inspired a new wave of patriotism and pride in what this nation stands for. Remembering this tragic loss and the sacrifice first responders and the passengers aboard Flight 93 made for their brothers and sisters only unites us, not divides us. We are proud to be Americans, and we will never forget.
