Who am I? Katie Thompson. A native Texan, 20-year-old Austinite, proud conservative Republican, social media nerd, writer, politics/policy junkie.

Why do I write? Writing is part of my job. But on this blog, I write because I enjoy it, because I live in a very blue city in a very red state, because I get so full of thoughts and ideas and arguments I have to express them somewhere. And maybe I hope I can influence somebody’s opinion by doing so.

The best compliment I’ve ever gotten about my posts, from a candidate running for state office: “I’m glad you’re on my side.”

Where else do I write? Among other projects, I have also contributed to The New Texas Forum, a student newspaper by the Republican Party of Texas, and done some guest blogging at Legal Insurrection, one of the best conservative blogs out there.
